Platform offering income stretch mortgages up to 5.5 times salary to Professionals

Platform is the latest mortgage lenders to start offering income stretch mortgages up to 5.5 times salary to mortgage professions.

The Professional Mortgage product has been specifically designed for qualified professionals across various sectors, including Acceptable professions: accountants, architects, actuaries, barristers, chartered surveyors, dentists, medical doctors, optometrists, pharmacists, solicitors and veterinarians.

These products will be available for property purchases only. The minimum income requirement for the professional applicant is £35,000, joint applications are acceptable, but at least one applicant must be a professional, and the professional must meet the minimum requirement. The qualification must align with one of the registered bodies and must be within the last five years.

Aaron Strutt, product director at Trinity Financial, says: "More of the lenders are offering income stretch mortgages to professional including Metro Bank and Clydesdale Bank. The banks and building societies are competition to attract these borrowers, and some lenders charge more than others if you are a professional looking for an income stretch deal you need to check you are getting the best rate."

Some of the brokers are still offering five times single and joint income mortgage, so if you do not need an income stretch then it may not make sense to take a Professional deal.

The Co-operative Bank, Platform, smile and Britannia are trading names of The Co-operative Bank p.l.c.
