Equity release market breaks £1 billion lending mark with third year of growth

The equity release mortgage market passed the £1 billion lending mark in 2013 with its third year of growth, according to analysis by Key Retirement Solutions.

A total value of £1.06 billion was released in 2013 and this is 4% higher than the £961.4 million in 2012. The average customer took out an equity release plan in 2013 worth £56,045 and this up 7% up on 2012's £52,268 figure.
