The Sunday Times - Beware the hefty fees on 'best-buy' mortgage deals

Borrowers are being hit with high mortgage fees as lenders fail to pass on savings made from their own cheap funding costs. Aaron Strutt of Trinity Financial told The Sunday Times:

Most banks and building societies charge about £999 to set up a standard mortgage.

Lenders use fees to price mortgages and the higher the arrangement fee, the lower the rate
