British Bankers Association appoints Ex-Thatcher aid as chairman

The British Bankers Association has appointed Sir Nigel Wicks as their chairman in the wake of the Libor rigging scandal.

Sir Nigel Wicks worked as Principal Private Secretary to the former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. He is currently chairman of Euroclear, the Belgium based financial services company that specialises in a number of areas, including: bonds, securities, equities and derivatives.

Sir Wicks said: "I am honoured to have been asked to take on the role of BBA chairman.

In this country and at this time, this vitally important industry is working to rebuild its reputation with its customers and to play its full part in restoring the UK's financial stability and helping to drive its economic recovery.
