M&S Bank has launched its first mortgage range to first-time buyers, home movers and customers looking to remortgage.

It is operating as part of a joint venture arrangement between HSBC and Marks & Spencer. However, it has a banking license and its own Board.

M&S Bank offers mortgages up to a maximum of £1 million, and provides £1,000 cashback for those purchasing their first home, it also offers some customers a free property valuation.

Like other lenders, it is accepting up to four borrowers who will live in the property to take out a mortgage together.

M&S Bank has announced it will be working in partnership with Shelter the housing and homelessness charity, which will see M&S Bank donate £25 to Shelter for every mortgage purchased.

The bank's mortgages will be available directly through M&S Bank and one large broker, although they will be made more widely available throughout 2018.

It is looking to complete its transition from a financial services provider to a full-service bank.
