Dudley Building Society has launched three mortgages specially aimed at the owners of Grade 1 and Grade 2 listed properties.

The society is offering term tracker standard variable rate mortgages that have a discount for the life of the loan. The rate borrowers pay is linked to the amount of equity they have in the property.

Some of the banks are not happy to lend on listed buildings although Trinity has access to lenders happy to provide mortgages. However, this will be subject to their property valuer’s comments.

Jeremey Wood, chief executive of the Dudley Building Society, says: “This is a niche area which our research told us was under-represented.

“We believe it is important to support customer who, by occupying these culturally important property, are helping to keep alive vital parts of our shared heritage.

“The products we have designed are made more attractive as the discount on the rate we offers extend to the end of the mortgage.”
