Rents and average rental returns increase in February

Annual rent rises across England and Wales accelerated in February, according to the latest Buy-to-Let Index from LSL Property Services.

The average rental figures generated across England and Wales rose by 1.6% in February and currently stand at £743 per month.

Last week, LSL said that landlords received a typical annual return of 9.7% in the year to February, representing an average of £16,029. This is made up of £7,921 rental a year and £8,108 capital gain.

David Newnes, director of LSL Property Services, comments: “Despite great improvements in the prospects of many first-time buyers, there are still millions of households who rely on a healthy private rented sector for their homes.”
