Financial Times - Should I get a fixed-rate mortgage or bet on an interest-rate cut?

Trinity Financial responded to question from a Financial Times reader.

As they were coming to end of their fixed rate mortgage, they asked for help to assess their options.

Aaron Strutt of mortgage broker Trinity Financial explained the first step should be to call their existing lender and ask what rate they will offer them to stay. 

He also said the mortgage lenders are still pushing hard to keep their customers, and there is an active price war in the remortgage market.
