UK house prices 'rise at fastest rate since 2010'

House prices in the latest three months (June-August) were 2.1% higher than in the preceding three months (March-May). This was the same rate of increase as in both June and July, according to the latest Halifax House Price Index. House prices in the three months to August were 5.4% higher than in the same three months a year earlier. This was higher than July's 4.6% increase and is the largest annual rate since June 2010 (6.3%). The annual rate has picked up from 1.1% in March 2013. The average price of a house in the UK was £170, 231 - the highest level since September 2008. September 6, 2013
