Research published by the Money Advice Service shows that almost three million people who recently moved home were surprised by the cost of moving; and over one million of the home-movers admitted they encountered unexpected costs for which they hadn't budgeted. The survey also found that the majority (68% of 8 million people) said it was surprising how home moving costs added up. 37% (or 2.9 million people) who incurred costs said the cost of moving was more than they expected and a fifth (20% or 1.6m people) admitted they incurred costs which were unexpected or overlooked. According to the Land Registry House Price Index, around 200,000 households will be on the move this summer. August 10, 2012
