Santander has announced plans to launch a private banking arm to focus on clients with £500,000 in savings or investments and/or an annual income of £250,000 or over.

There will be 40 specialist managers across the UK and the service will provide advice across a range of products including banking, lending, investment and financial planning.

Clients will be given access to one of these dedicated private bankers and will also be able to use Santander’s online banking services and receive support from a specialist contact centre.

Aaron Strutt, product director at Trinity Financial, says: “Santander says it will provide clients with mortgages at the standard product range available through mortgage advisers within the retail network. The bank has some impressively priced rates but they are not the cheapest in the market.”
