Nationwide producing mortgage offers in a week
A host of banks and building societies are producing faster mortgage offers as service standards continue to improve.
Nationwide for Intermediaries is currently taking an average of seven days from the date of application to produce a mortgage offer, while Santander for Intermediaries is marginally slower at 8.3 days.
Last year some of the lenders were taking five days just to assess documentation and weeks to produce a mortgage offer.
Aaron Strutt, product manager at Trinity Financial, says: "The lenders are more used to the new mortgage affordability rules implemented as part of the MMR and processing staff have a better understanding of the new regime. The leading lenders are also using better computer systems."
