Metro Bank has increased its lending area for mortgage applications submitted via brokers to cover England and Wales.

The lender previously provided mortgages on properties located in London and the South East.

Charles Morley, head of mortgage distribution, Metro Bank, said: “This is an exciting development for Metro Bank, and for our broker partners and customers.

“Extending our lending area to cover the whole of England and Wales is a direct response to the conversations we've had with intermediaries, and we're confident that it will be a positive development for our partners.”

Customers applying through a branch will still be restricted to properties between London and the South East.

Metro Bank has a range of residential mortgages between £50,000 and £5 million.

They also offer buy-to-let mortgages typically up to £1.5 million for customers with a maximum of six properties.
