Increase in mortgages being submitted via brokers

Mortgage lenders are increasingly turning to brokers in order to attract new customers as they struggle to get applicants into their branches.

According to the latest data from the Financial Conduct Authority, in the first quarter of 2014 a total of 56.8% of new mortgages were introduced by brokers. This is well up on the 52.4% of transactions via brokers in the first quarter of 2013.

Last week the Skipton Building Society announced that over 95% of their mortgage customers are being introduced through intermediaries.

Aaron Strutt, product manager at Trinity Financial, says: “Over the last few months the lenders have been telling us they are planning to work more closely with brokers and they are offering some fantastic rates.”
