Handelsbanken offering foreign income mortgages again

Handelsbanken is potentially offering mortgages to UK residents paid in a limited number of foreign currencies again.

After pulling out of the market following the Mortgage Credit Directive, the Swedish bank limited lending to wealthier borrowers paid in Sterling.

Following the return of other lenders to this market, it has now started helping a limited amount of professional clients typically working in the banking sector.

Handelsbanken says it is likely to accept clients who are paid bonuses in Euros or US Dollars, providing they plan to repay the mortgage from non-sterling sources.

Aaron Strutt, product director at Trinity Financial, says: “If you are looking for a foreign income mortgage our brokers have access to a host of banks and building societies happy to help. Some of the biggest banks offer impressively low rates to clients paid in foreign currencies.

“One building society says that it will accept income from 168 different countries and another one will gross-up income if the client does not pay UK tax.”

To secure a foreign income mortgage call Trinity Financial on 020 7016 0790.
