The price comparison website says that a rise in living costs of £50 or less would push 36% of Britain's to financial breaking point. MoneySupermarket says household bills have risen by £56 in the past six months, primarily because of an increase in food and utility prices. If costs continue to rise millions could be pushed over the edge. Their report shows that one in five people are already on the brink and cannot afford to pay back their monthly bills. A quarter said that they are relying on their credit card to cover their costs and 17% said they are using their bank overdraft facility to help with spending each month. August 24, 2012
