Brokers are submitting the majority of mortgages to banks and building societies with six in every 10 applications going through mortgage intermediaries. This is according to research by Avelo, the financial services technology provider. Another survey conducted by Legal & General, shows that 46% of potential home buyers in the UK would turn to family and friends for mortgage tips, while only 21% would look to mortgage lenders for guidance. Their data also highlights that 53% of people in the UK are happy to contact mortgage brokers for advice. When it came to searching for specific products, however, the internet came out on top with 34% of people saying that it would be their first port of call. November 2, 2012
