More borrowers are looking for Help to Buy mortgages at the moment although they are not sure which banks are offering the best deal. Trinity Financial has helped The Sunday Times to produce a list of the best Help to Buy rates. Applicants will typically need a top credit score to qualify for one of the Help to Buy deals  " and, even then, may not be getting the best rate.

Most banks and building societies are offering conventional 5% deposit rates, some of which undercut the Help to Buy offerings," says Aaron Strutt, product manager at Trinity Financial. For example, Chelsea Building Society has a two-year fix at 4.59%, with a £1,675 fee.
