Average first-time buyer is 30 years old

The average age of a first-time buyer taking a mortgage with the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks is 30, according to a survey of their customers. 33% of their first-time buyers are aged under 25 and 32% between 26 and 30. 11% of their customers buying their first home are over 40. 27 January 2012
