Abbey launches a 1.99% fix and eases interest-only lending criteria

It has been a busy week at Abbey for Intermediaries. They initially announced that they would make it more affordable for borrowers if they wanted an interest-only mortgage. Then they launched a market leading two year fixed rate at 1.99%. Their new fixed rate is available for seven days only and is fantastically priced at 1.99%. The lender requires a 40% deposit and the arrangement fee is £1,495. The maximum loan size is £500,000. Abbey's interest-only proposition is more sensible and will be popular with Trinity's clients. Many banks and buildings societies have removed their interest-only deals completely. Aaron Strutt, a broker at Trinity Financial, says: “Since February, borrowers wanting an interest-only loan could borrow only up to 50 per cent LTV. But now, with Abbey's latest criteria changes, they will allow up to 50 per cent of the property's value to be taken on interest-only and the remainder (up to 75 per cent) on a capital and interest basis.” To secure this new market leading fixed rate, call us 020 7016 0790.
