Two-year fixed deals crept up this week but the direction of traffic is still downwards, just not as fast as we hoped, says Ali Hussain of The Sunday Times.
 
Homeowners are being urged not to panic after 30 mortgage lenders put up rates this week.
 
But brokers say there is no need to panic. Aaron Strutt from Trinity Financial said: “The hope is that these increases are just a blip and rates will fall again before the end of the year. Even if they rise, the increases are likely to be marginal.”
